ISP Europe Online Chess Tournament

Whilst the safety and wellbeing of students, staff and families remains our top priority, the International Schools Partnership (ISP) continues to put learners and learning at the forefront of everything we do. Despite the temporary closure of our school buildings around the world due to COVID-19, learning and teaching continues through our distance learning approaches across ISP. Given the situation schools around the world find themselves in at this time, we wanted to give students within our group an additional learning opportunity and have the chance to connect with students in other schools around the group.

Chess has been recognised as an exceptional educational tool, helping students to build their problem-solving and decision-making skills, and is probably the only sport that can be played online. With that in mind, we have launched the ISP Europe Online Chess Tournament, where students will continue building relationships throughout ISP schools while they learn and have fun. We have chosen Europe as a pilot region for this tournament before rolling it out to different regions and ahead of a global ISP Online Chess Tournament in AY 2020/2021.

The ISP Europe Online Chess Tournament will be celebrated on Thursday, 21st May. 18:30 – 19:30 (Central European Time). Students aged 5-18 from ISP schools in Europe will be able to take part on it, a minimum of 4 players and a maximum of 16 per school. Matches to be played through Lichess.org (can be played on a computer, iPad, tablet or phone). No participation fee.
